Implementation Committee

Mission and Purpose

The Green Dot Implementation Committee consists of professional staff who ensure compliance standards are being met with the administration and assessment of the national Green Dot bystander intervention strategic plan on the Texas A&M campus. The Green Dot strategic plan consists of five parts:

  1.  Invite people to reconsider their role in prevention
  2.  Inspire people to believe things can be different and their contribution matters
  3. Engage people in education that will equip hem with the motivation, knowledge and skill they need to take action
  4. Strengthen new behaviors through reinforcement, practice and multiple exposures to key messages
  5. Sustain changes through integrating key messages into permanent infrastructure

Through the creation of small action teams that focus on curriculum, engagement, events & social marketing, and evaluation and assessment, members of the Implementation Committee work
individually and together to achieve measurable goals for each part of the strategic plan on an annual basis.

Committee Goals

Overseen by Student Life, the Green Dot Implementation Committee is comprised of professional staff and students who have demonstrated a long-standing commitment to bystander intervention and the prevention of all forms of interpersonal violence. The Committee will:

  • Adapt content of the overview talks and full trainings, to include relevant barriers and bystander strategy examples for students of different identities and affinity groups
  • Personalize content of overview talks and full trainings, to include relevant connections to the Texas A&M campus, traditions, and values
  •  Build community among facilitators, by recognizing their time and the impact they have had on our campus
  • Establish relationships with key stakeholders on campus, and personally engage them and their departments or students in the Green Dot strategy
  • Identify key departments and affinity groups as early adopters, and establish/sustain a long-term strategic plan with these individuals that includes Green Dot training
  • Create a visible brand that is personal to our campus and associates bystander intervention with positive behaviors and action steps
  • Establish a short and long-term assessment plan that is evaluated on an annual basis and can clearly demonstrate knowledge acquisition and behavioral change
